Zürich Ecology and Evolution Interaction Seminar provides an informal and engaging environment for graduate students (MSc and PhD) to discuss current research in ecology and evolutionary biology. Each 20–40 minute talk reviews exciting developments in a research field or highlights the presenter's current work. Discussions and networking opportunities foster connections within Zürich's ecology and evolution research community.
Program
Schedule for Autumn Semester 2024. Talks are always on Fridays from 16:00 until 17:30.
If you are interested in attending and giving a presentation for credits in Autumn Semester 2024, get in touch with us via email by end of August.
Course Registration
There is no need to register to attend – all are welcome to participate! However, there is an option to receive credit points (up to FS2024: 2 ECTS for ETH students, 1 ECTS for UZH students; from HS2024, 1 ECTS for ETH and UZH students) for attending at least 5 sessions and giving a presentation. If you are interested, email the organizers as soon as possible so we can put you on the schedule. ETH students should register for course 701-1401-00L through myStudies; for UZH students, ZIS is officially listed as ECO401 under the PhD Program in Ecology.
It is also possible for PhD students at ETH to receive credits for organizing the seminar. Please get in touch with the current organizers if you are interested in co-organizing the seminar in 2025.
Contact
The seminar is organized by students from the participating universities, usually from the Institute of Integrative Biology at ETH Zurich and the external page Institute of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Zurich.
This semester's organisers are Eléonore Perret (ETH, Institute of Integrative Biology) and external page Caspar Goedecker (UZH, Department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies).
Each organizer contributes for two semesters, and it is typically arranged so that there is one “new” organizer and one “experienced” organizer each semester.
